What to Expect at Van Chiro

Whether you’re familiar with chiropractic care, or this is your first time in, you can expect something positively different. Our licensed chiropractors and massage therapists make it easy to schedule an appointment with flexible hours, weekend and even late evening slots available.

During your first visit, your chiropractor will explain the many benefits chiropractic care has to offer and what sort of treatment we might recommend for you. If you’ve never been adjusted before, this is a great opportunity to have some of your questions answered, so you know exactly what to expect.

Your adjustment will take place in one of our private rooms, where you’ll be placed on a comfortable table made specifically for this purpose. You’ll remain fully clothed for this portion, so we recommend wearing non-restrictive clothing so that you’re more comfortable while lying down. A portion of your adjustment may be performed while you are face down, while the other may be delivered on your side, sitting upright or lying on your back.

What is that popping noise?

Don’t fear! That’s exactly the sort of sound your chiropractor wants to hear. This signals to them that your joints are releasing tiny pockets of gas, taking the pressure off of your joints.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Absolutely! Chiropractic is recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available.

Is chiropractic care appropriate for children?

Yes! Kids physically active schedules mean room for back and neck pain, stiffness, soreness or discomfort - especially if participating in sports. Treatment is always adapted to the individual patient, and in the case of children, we approach care in a more gentle manner.

Will I be sore following a chiropractic adjustment?

Many patients feel immediate relief following treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. Staying hydrated, using an ice pack and engaging in light stretching after your visit can help ease discomfort.

How long will my visits take?

This will depend on a few factors such as insurance eligibility, the severity of your condition and the consultation with your therapist and doctor. Most first visits typically last 60 minutes, but could be anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes.

How often will I need to come back?

Your doctor will determine the best course of action for your specific needs and will provide recommendations for how you should move forward with your treatment.
